NEXT OF KIN by DANIEL W. COBURN

Daniel W. Coburn trabaja en Kansas, EE.UU. como profesor asistente de fotografía en la universidad. Su trabajo ha sido expuesto en Los Angeles Center for Digital Art o the Chelsea Museum of Art in New York.

En este proyecto Coburn vuelve a su casa tras un año fuera para fotografiar a su familia. Las fotos muestran las fuerzas y debilidades de la familia, formada por miembros con carácter y marcada por problemas de alcoholismo, violencia e incluso un intento de suicidio. Coburn define su proceso como catártico.

"A complicated relationship with family, and an immersive experience with an evangelical Christian church resulted in my loss of spiritual and domestic faith. My work relates specifically to these personal struggels and explores the quiet suffering that occurs within the perimeter of a family unit living under the auspices of the American Dream."
